Puhua School in Collaboration with FH Unsoed Presents Mandarin Competency Class for Law Students
Banyumas—In the midst of an increasingly globally connected professional world, the ability to communicate across languages and cultures has become an essential asset for the productive young generation. For prospective law graduates, proficiency in foreign languages not only enriches personal skills but also broadens perspectives, strengthens competitiveness, and prepares them to enter an ever-dynamic job market.
In response to this need, the Mandarin Language Center of Puhua School, in collaboration with the Faculty of Law at Jenderal Soedirman University, is offering a Mandarin Competency Class for prospective law students at Unsoed. This program, which starts on August 20, 2026, represents a concrete step by Puhua to expand the benefits of Mandarin language education, not only for school students but also for university students and young professional candidates in Banyumas.
Three classes, each with 30 students, are participating in Mandarin language learning twice a week at the Faculty of Law Unsoed. The presence of this program demonstrates the enthusiasm of the younger generation to build new competencies that are relevant to future needs.
Puhua is not only present as an educational institution but also as a driver of the learning ecosystem that opens access to language skills for the wider community. The learning is guided by Dr. Chen Tao, B.A., M.M., a native Mandarin speaker with over 20 years of experience in teaching Mandarin in Indonesia. In addition to serving as the CEO of Puhua School, Dr. Chen Tao is also the Chairman of the Mandarin Language Center Puhua, which was established in collaboration with Baoding University, China, under the support of the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC).
Through an active, communicative, and gradual learning approach, participants not only learn vocabulary and language structure. They are encouraged to be brave in speaking, asking questions, interacting, and understanding the cultural context in the use of language. Thus, this class becomes a learning space that builds self-confidence, discipline, communication skills, and cross-cultural sensitivity.
For law students, this competency can be an added value in facing the developments in the business sector, investment, trade, international cooperation, and legal services that require the ability to communicate with various parties. More importantly, the ability to speak Mandarin provides students with the opportunity to see the world from a broader perspective and to be ready to seize opportunities more openly.
As part of strengthening competencies, participants are also prepared to take the 中文水平考试 (HSK), which is an international Mandarin language proficiency test. HSK preparation provides a clear learning direction and helps students build evidence of competence that can support further study plans, scholarship applications, internships, and career development.
The collaboration between the Puhua Mandarin Language Center and the Faculty of Law at Unsoed reflects a spirit of impactful education: providing the necessary skills, bringing educational institutions together for a common goal, and paving the way for the younger generation to thrive. From the classrooms at the Faculty of Law Unsoed, Puhua also plays a role in preparing academically strong, adaptive, globally-minded legal professionals who are ready to contribute to Indonesia.
