Puhua Secondary School Holds Basic Leadership Training for Student Council 2026 to Form Character-Building Student Leaders
Banyumas—Being a leader is not just about the ability to stand in front or hold a position. Leadership grows from discipline, the courage to face challenges, the ability to listen, collaborate, make decisions, and take responsibility for every choice. Therefore, leadership cannot be fully understood through theory; it needs to be experienced, practiced, and forged through real processes.
On August 21–22, 2026, Puhua School held a Basic Leadership Training (LDK) for the Student Council (OSIS) for 36 selected students. The selection process was conducted in stages and was competitive. Out of more than 120 students who registered, 60 students participated in the interview stage before 36 participants were selected to attend the training. The participants included Trilon, the elected Chairperson and Vice Chairperson of the OSIS for the 2026/2027 term, as well as other prospective OSIS administrators.
This selection and training reflect Puhua's commitment to providing leadership opportunities for students who have a spirit of service, a readiness to learn, and a willingness to take responsibility. At Puhua, the student council is not seen merely as a school activity organization, but rather as a platform for students to build character, hone organizational skills, and learn to make a positive impact on the environment.
The activity was opened with a flag ceremony led by Ms. Arinta Dewi, S.Si., M.M., followed by a drill on marching regulations with Serma Yasin and Sertu Zaenal. Through the marching drill, students learn discipline, precision, focus, assertiveness, and the importance of uniting movement and goals within a team.
The training continued with a Time Management session led by Laoshi Shinta Meliani Levina, B.Ed., M.TCSOL, and The Pyramid of Leadership session with Nathania Cherylin Sanjaya, an alumnus of Puhua School and former student council president who is now continuing her education at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. The presence of alumni provides real inspiration that the leadership process that begins in school can be a valuable asset for stepping into a broader world. Through communication games, problem-solving, and performance, participants practiced conveying ideas, strategizing, appreciating differing opinions, managing group dynamics, and creatively overcoming challenges. In the evening, the campfire and night patrol became experiences that fostered courage, trust among friends, resilience, and decision-making skills in new situations.
Participants also learn to be independent through activities such as preparing their own meals, enjoying the results of their collective work, and being responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the environment after use. This simple experience teaches that a leader is not only able to give directions but is also willing to take on roles, work together, and uphold responsibilities until completion.
The second day began with morning exercises and military drills, followed by a briefing from the Student Affairs and Guidance Counseling team. The series of activities was concluded with a closing ceremony led by Mr. Teguh Sugeng Apriawan, S.Pd.
For Puhua School, LDK OSIS is not just preparation for running the administration. It is a part of education that unites character, skills, experience, and social awareness. Puhua continues to prepare students to become confident, disciplined, and integrity-driven leaders of the future, capable of working together and ready to benefit others. Puhua Jiayou!
